Orbit often puts his head on our knee like that, his master fortunately isn't as dramatic. Orbit sent us a christmas card today. Or rather, all the 2006 adoptees of the Dog Rescue sent it. All of their names are on the card, Orbit's too. And once again, we are grateful for his civilized name. Imagine having to call out "Einstein" in the park. Or Sweetie, Bonita, Herbert, Zeus, Pudding, Finnegan, Beckett, or Shakespeare. How embarrassing would that be. Michiel told me that a dog owner calling out "Sherman" already got laughed at in the park today. We can't have that, now can we. But I do hope all the other adoptees are doing as well as Orbit. Orbit is much much fitter than he was. I remember we even wondered about his legs, they didn't move evenly when he ran. They certainly do now. And he is much better with other dogs, he is confident and happy. Almost off his meds, and completely off his diet. He allegedly was allergic to meat, for crying out loud, and had to eat special fish dog food. But he doesn't even like that junk. He is chewing bones now, I buy them in bulk from the butcher. Fish, what nonsense. And all the anxieties and syndromes he had. All cured, the dog is perfectly fine. If there is one thing that I have learned so far from owning a dog, it is that a dog is even more of an emotional mirror than children are. Dogs are hypersensitive beings, and they so badly want to submit to you, to obey, to be good dogs. They will do anything. And if you are afraid, the dog will be afraid. And if you tell the dog he is sick, he will be sick. This is true for kids, and even more so for dogs.

Can you tell the dog to drop dead too when it's time to go on vacations?
:o)

Actually, when I think of it, he probably will.
:-(

A fair warning to all ! I recently was ticketed , or at least my dog was, for walking in a city park without a leash - $125 smakers ! plus also for no Dog Licence ! $60 ! Dog owners be for-warned, the city is cracking down, don't get caught like me and Milo, it sure puts a damper on your Christmas Cheer !

I think Orbit is a very lucky dog, being picked out by you.

funny all the stuff you mention about orbit, we had a similar experience with the adoption of our kid. she barely walked at 2 1/2 (her legs were covered in bruises), she had health issues i don't even want to mention... she was lack luster, didn't laugh for 3 months... although i have to be honest her name wouldn't have been one i chose, but it has grown on me, i'm just glad she wasn't named Britney, or some other hooker sounding name... oh and she doesn't put her head on my leg

:)

I wouldn't dare comparing dog adoption with kid adoption, but now that you start... But no, I am trying my best, but somehow I can't seriously compare Orbit with your lovely little girl, LOL!

orbit is a great dog... i really like him, and i too have seen his dramatic transformation to a happy healthy and secure beast, it's amazing what love, consistancy, good food and regular exercise will do for all beings. You're doing a great job... did you grow up with dogs?

Oh, and the offer stands that if you ever need a babysitter for him (or want to go away) we would be thrilled to have him stay with us.

he rocks

c

Thanks, we will certainly have you babysit him, but it's one of these things. He was said to have seperation anxiety, and thus unable to stay home alone without getting destructive. But he has learned to do that. The only thing he does is that he sleeps on our bed when he is alone. And yes, we did have a dog when I was little. But I really believe it's all just common sense, like most things in life, really. And luck.
