For the life of me, I couldn't think of anything to make for dinner. There wasn't anything I felt like cooking or eating. And just when we decided to try out a new restaurant in our neighbourhood, it started pouring. What now? And then my life motto once again proved itself true. My life motto is "every problem will solve itself". In this case neighbour Ann suddenly appeared with two bottles of red wine. She wanted to show her gratitude, because earlier today Michiel gave her an old bicycle that none of us liked riding. Ann's own bicycle was vandalized the other day. And then on top of the two bottles she invites us over for dinner! Which is no small deal, because there's four of us, and we're big eaters. But everybody's problems were solved today. Ann's bike problem, and our dinner problem. Life is good.
I don't read Dutch. So what is this series you're working on with these couples (married units? families? whatever...)? And is your current prickliness due to the heat or meditating on Family?
One hand washes the other...
I didn't realize I came across prickled, I am not prickled. The series is about business in villages. In this particular village the business is tourism, which is often the case. I don't always feel like drawing picturesque streets and houses, I choose something from the article that I think is interesting to draw. In this case it is the way children are dressed for their first communion. Boys used to wear cute little sailor suits. But as parents are, they wanted more and better and richer. So at some point in time the little sailors became admirals.
I made a category for my series, it's called "World Summer". Maybe things will make more sense if you take a look there.
