And now my dear computer has to go to the hospital for a week to get a new power supply. I managed to empty a week in my work schedule. I can do the paper sketches for the next piece. I probably won't be able to scan and show them though. Unless I think of something. Piffin boarded her plane to Vancouver tonight. Already missing her! I must have seen ten million cars to and from the airport, how can people stand those traffic jams every single day?!

I sold a print the day the illustration was published. Fast drawing, quick succes. Right now I am working on a sloooow drawing. But the end is near. Just don't distract me so miuch, you guys!! Except Piffin of course, it's her birthday. Speaking about fast. Twenty years ago I lay there giving birth, and it feels like yesterday. This was my contraction music, when I listen to it I can still feel them.

I did this one yesterday, I am already on to other endeavors today. And I should have blogged the prints that I had done, but the daylight for a nice picture was gone before I knew it. Anyway, blogging the parental thingies comes in handy because I always combine two or three on my invoices. Scrolling through the blog I can make sure I don't forget any.

My dear father-in-law was so sweet to go to the store for me, buy a newspaper, and send me some pictures, in spite of a very busy day. He studies math and physics, he is quite incredible. Me and my petty drawings don't compare to that at all. But in spite of that I'll make some more today. I am very happy not to study math and physics.

I was so happy to be done at four, and still had some time left for my birthday. I can always count on my street for some spontaneous company. And then I watched All The President's Men with Otger, Michiel fell asleep. Otger starts to be interested in that kind of thing. This and writing ray tracers. Something utterly unthinkable in 1974. 1974 looks like the stone age with all those type writers (I remember Watergate being in the news night after night after night). But Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman sure were handsome.

And now I am going to bake pancakes for my family. (The Dutch eat pancakes for dinner) If you're around at 7:30 tonight, listen to me on the radio. I'll be talking about batteries in the army, babies and euthanisia, and the Google street view car. As if it's nothing.

Yes, I am still here. So far for this one, I put way more time in researching than in sketching. Learned a lot I didn't know, which is always the fun of researching. But I am going to have to reverse my focus now, and put my time in drawing.

You may not see much difference but there is. The drawing is much bigger now, only not here. It's just that my parsley leaves are too small to show in a picture, or I would have showed those. My first vegetable garden succes, parsley! The leaves were a little over a millimeter today, isn't that just great? And other than that, it is Michiel's birthday. I bought him a present on the internet. It didn't arrive, I will never shop online again. Ever. I baked him an apple pie instead. (must remember to bring my little two-year old friend Franceska a piece, she loves my appepie) And a stir fry with water chestnuts. Water chestnuts are miraculous things. And only 59 cents a can!

And then on the way back there was a singing idiot in the subway, but he wasn't obnoxious enough to wash away all of our opera fun. Tamara Wilson did all the acrobatic singing you can possibly expect from an opera singer, amazing amazing. If you're in Toronto, don't miss Simon Boccanegra.

Blogging about the weather is the corniest thing, but sometimes the weather is just too prominent. Yesterday we had spring, I went to the flower shop around the corner on my flip flops, and today we have horizontal snow. I almost broke my neck when I stepped out into the back yard this morning, the steps were covered in ice. And stepping into the back yard is what I want to do, because Michiel built a vertical vegetable garden yesterday. We have a tiny back yard, just big enough to eat out and to put the bicycles and the garbage cans. But it has a big south facing wall, and it is a shame to let all that sunshine go to waste. It has shelves now, shelves with flower pots and small beds, I garbage picked three old drawers today that will be excellent vegetable beds. Or herbs. Of course we couldn't resist starting some seeding, not that we hadn't seen the weather forecast...

My first April blog entry. I shall not bore you with more computer troubles. She works fine for now, my dear computer, as long as I don't shut her down until her new power supply arrives. Hope I won't shut her down by accident. A long long time ago we lived in a squat in Holland, with only cold water, no gas or hydro. Holland expierenced the two fiercest winters in recent history while we lived in our squat, the legendary Frisian speed skating race was held both times. But in that second winter someone turned off the water by accident. We had to keep the water running day and night to prevent it from freezing. So that was when we had to move out. Turning off my computer now woul not be quite as dramatic, but I would really like to keep working on some projects...
