This photo only shows two "logs", but I think there were seven or eight. There has been a lot of sawing and sanding going on at our house lately. But the installation at OCAD turned out great, and I think there's a waiting list of people wanting to buy "logs". They're great as stools or coffee tables. This project certainly took care of the mountains of scrap wood in our basement!

Michiel was having trouble with his flashgun. He put it on my camera to see if it was the flashgun that was refusing service. It wasn't. I played around with it, but I couldn't really take a picture, because the flash was too harsh. So I held my fingers in front of the flashgun and produced this happy little accident.
At least someone in our family was working today. Doesn't it look great? I'm glad she takes pictures, because these clay models are mercilessly destroyed after every class. Reminds me of kindergarten, we did that in kindergarten. At the end of the day we had to push our thumbs into the clay, and the teacher would pour water into the holes. And then wrapped in plastic into the drawer. Except on father's day, because on father's day we would make ashtrays out of the clay.
totally #unemployed since my last deadline http://bit.ly/1PCa0e this morning. Anybody need an #illustration?
o c'mon, it's been 2 hours and I haven't got more than s-thing with a 3 month deadline. Which unf is secret, client even gave me a riddle.
Ha, deze heb ik anders mooi gratis! @therealfoksuk http://pic.gd/115bea
Otger's math tutor (now doing chem): you can't just know that. Only geniuses just know that. Me: Is he a genius? She: yes, he's a genius!

It

What, as a housekeeper? I am very good at that, I have to admit. I was born and raised for domestic purposes.
That's the thing with Monday morning deadlines, they tend to eat up the weekend. But it's done now. From left to right: Albert Krielen, Mario Been, Dries van Agt, Jan Jansen, Piet Velthuizen, Kenny van Hummel, Ilse de Lange.
The fine tuning is for tomorrow. I will now flatter myself on my couch and watch amazing movies.
If I am quick, it is not too late for an after dinner coffee. And the post-dishes. When it's Otger's turn, there are always post-dishes.
Like I said, halfway decent. And my printer died. Again. This is our second printer since the Mac. Printers are cheap pieces of crap, that they just sell you to get you hooked on expensive ink, we all know that. Michiel has been researching printers all afternoon, and he hasn't found a single one without miserable reviews. But I do need to buy one, unfortunately. Tell us which one!! The only real requirement that I have is that it works! And That it won't (literally, in some cases) cost me a thousand dollars to change the cartridges. I have a Canon Pixma piece of shit now, and it refuses to print blue. Among other things.

Walking Orbit, I met the drummer of a band that is going to play Doornroosje & the Oosterpoort. I forgot to ask the name of the band. Sometimes Holland is really very close to Toronto. And this thing will hopefully be a halfway decent sketch tomorrow. I want some more dynamic, more contrast in size, like with the girl on the right.
And now all I have to do is turn all of this into one drawing. Piece of cake. Or not. I don't know, I'll do my best. Saw a very beautiful documentary tonight, on Dutch TV, about this painter who was sort of famous in the sixties, Arie Kater. His work is not very well kown anymore, which is a shame, it is extraordinary work. Long live the internet. I guess Hangover is not a last name one would wish upon anyone.
Despite a crazy amount of distraction I managed to sketch almost as much as I wanted. And a cold, I also have a bad cold. Happy belated Thanksgiving, by the way. My pumpkin pie was amazing. First frost tonight, brrr.
And clean are your dentures! This was a very productive week, and so will next week be. I'm doing another Luxity spread with celebrities, Dries van Agt and Ilse de Lange, stay tuned. I told my editor I thought the illo in the last issue was a bit darker than I expected, and what do you know, he was just on his way to the printer because some photo's were also on the dark side. It's a calibration thing probably. It's hit and miss with print work.
Shading is for tomorrow.
Google Street View in Toronto is live! Look at Orbit, now he's really going to be famous.
And another rough to a brand new client, I feel that in my stomach. Never gets easier. Not completely true, it does get a little easier, but not enough. I had my neighbour Kate come sit in my chair for this pose. My neighbour Kate is a perfect size 8 or so, and six feet tall, she is amazing. Orbit killed a pigeon this morning. And I emailed my TDSB trustee about the nonsense of that proposal to ban To Kill a Mockingbird. The N-word is in it, how shocking. She replied, and I am relieved: "Thanks for getting in touch with me about this. I will certainly never support the banning of "To Kill a Mockingbird" in our schools."
Maybe Piffin and I will go life drawing later, while Otger and Michiel attend the Dan Graham lecture at the UofT. (Oh fun, there's a live stream) But first Tony the math tutor will be here, while I walk Orbit. And then I'll make everybody quick hamburgers. So it's a good thing the parental thingy is done.

I don't know why that 4 is suddenly lighter. And then it kept bugging me that thesew drawings would maybe look better in ink. So now the client can choose.
