Cockie has declared this week "week of the typewriter". So I -a two finger typist- can't stay behind. Though I never even owned one. Nowadays it is completely acceptable to learn how to type, a sensible idea even. My children learn to type. When I was young (...) learning to type was uncool. It was for girls who would end up in office jobs. After all, it is not chique to know how to serve food with two pieces of cutlery. If you can do that, you're a waiter.
Posted by eliane at May 8, 2004 11:15 AMThanks. You are my kind of type. :-)
Posted by: cockie at May 8, 2004 11:49 AMha! well i'm glad i took typing i highschool. it was compulsory in grade 9, and for some strange reason i took it again in grade 10. i am an honour graduate of the "touch type" teaching system. keep your fingers on the "home row", ladies! of course when i use Eliane's bizarre Belgian keyboard, i struggle with one finger....
Posted by: patricia at May 8, 2004 01:28 PMI actually learned to type but I never passed any test because I didn’t finish the classes. But now I type with four fingers. And quite fast if I may say so myself. Hardy ever used it before I bought a computer. Must say those classes were a complete waste of time (for me).

Posted by: KLaus at May 10, 2004 03:46 AMYou should. It was a Dutch writer who said that about serving. I can't remember wich one. Does anybody know?
