rat

rat.jpg

We found a mummified rat in our basement. Of course I only blog this to get my neighbour Kathryn -who tells me she secretly reads my blog- to write a comment. And we found more, the original cast iron fire basket for the fire place! We almost bought one a while ago, stinking expensive these things. So yes, we're clearing the basement, Michiel is. He broke away a wall and demolished some shelving. Hence the finds. And on another note, a Slate article about something I blogged in June 2004. There you have it. I am on top of things.

Hi!, I've been secretly reading your blog too (from a Book Lust link). I find your blog cozy and pleasant as well as your illustration style. But my field is the politics caricature.
Only now (after few months) I realized what the "liaison" between us is: I always felt attracted by the press illustration masters of the turn of century.
Sometimes I feel that many contemporary illustrators are too much "conceptual" and lacks love for the human "flesh and bones". Don't you feel the same?
In any case, now you know you have a regular from Buenos Aires.

Human "flesh and bones" is totally coming back in vogue, mark my words. Even in newspapers. And political cartooning must be an interesting thing in Argentina. Have you ever drawn our princess Maxima?

This goes to prove that the only good rat is a dead rat! Are you arranging a funeral?

Hi Eliane.... I am finally coming out of the closet - provoked by your rat anecdote. Don't get me started!!! Is this the actual rat carcass? Well, at least there were some treasures down in the basement to balance the corpse. Are you going to do a rat funeral?

COOL... are you going to start a curio cabinet now? How victorian of you.... first the house, then the mouse.

You could pop it over to the church across the street... like i used to do. (mind you the ones i putover there were alive)

It's not a mouse sweetee, it's a 22 cm monster. And that is not counting the tail.
