the hero dream of a collaborating brother

I_v_Dullemen_krant.jpg

My musings today have nothing at all to do with Inez van Dullemen. The vet just called from the hospital. She said the operation went very well. They found the jelly-like substance that is in the centre of the spine had hardened and punched a hole in a disc. That is called a herniated disc. They removed quite a lot of hardened disc mass from the spinal canal, and that is a good thing, she said. Sometimes they open up a dog with neck pain, and find not so much, and that is more worrying. Because they found so much in Orbit, they are cautiously optimistic that he'll improve quite a bit. They are keeping him sleepy now, because he'll have considerable post-operative pain. Tell me about it, Willem was operated on his aneurysm yesterday. He is suffering now, from severe post-operative pain, on the top floor of a non air conditioned hospital with a flat roof in the blistering Dutch heat. And again I'm doing the medical blogging over there.

Ai, dat is wel een hele lading medische ellende in een keer... sterkte voor Willem en Orbit!

I think you should tell the two previous vets Orbit went to. Just to remind them to try harder and do a better job next time.
